How a Villa Holiday Could Actually Work out Cheaper for You and Your Family
From retired couples to young families, everyone needs to leave these shores behind and head somewhere exotic now and again. But as with everything these days, the choices available are simply huge and deciding where to go, let alone where to stay, is hard work.
Whilst destination is of course a major factor in the success of a holiday, it could be argued that where you decide to stay is just as important. A beautiful beach location is fine, but if your accommodation is little more than a glorified shed then you may not have such a great time.
Perhaps the biggest worry though in today’s times is price. Holidays are expensive. And villa holidays are considered by some to be out of their price range. But the key to choosing a good holiday let vacation is to look at how it can actually save you money over the course of the trip.
Supermarkets versus Bars
Resorts have bars which more often than not charge hefty prices for drinks which over the course of your holiday can add up. The beauty of staying in a holiday apartment or villa is that there will be no pricey resort bar reeling you in, but instead a supermarket selling the same drinks at much lower prices. Take advantage of this and serious savings could be made.
Local Eating
Local restaurants must be sampled on any holiday. The problem is in a resort there are usually two or three places to eat on site. Whilst you might start your holiday with the best of intentions, more often than not you will find yourself in these restaurants, eating average food at marked up prices, simply because it is convenient.
But when on a villa holiday or staying in a holiday rental, you have the choice to eat in or out. If you eat out, you can sample the local cuisine in those backstreet restaurants off the tourist track that are usually far better and more reasonably priced. Also, your rental apartment will have a kitchen, so you can save even more money by cooking for yourself a few nights a week.
When thinking of which type of holiday accommodation to stay in, remember villa holidays can offer much more freedom and flexibility and allow for more opportunities to save money during your holiday than resort based breaks.
